Design Research Analyst

The Design Research Analyst will combine elements of design, research, and analytics to understand user needs, behaviors, and experiences. This role will play a critical role in ensuring that products and systems are designed with the user in mind. You will have a role in bringing about changes and building new development within a high-profile media company.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
1. Design Thinking Expertise:
* Strong understanding and hands-on experience with design thinking methodologies and frameworks.
* Ability to facilitate design thinking workshops and guide teams through the process from ideation to prototyping.
2. Affinity Mapping:
* Proficiency in creating and documenting affinity diagrams to cluster data and identify themes effectively.
* Experience with digital tools for affinity mapping (e.g., Miro, MURAL, LucidChart).
3. Analytical Skills:
* Strong analytical skills to synthesize qualitative and quantitative research findings.
* Ability to identify key patterns, insights, and trends from user feedback and data.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
* Excellent documentation skills for capturing session outputs, observations, and results clearly and comprehensively.
* Ability to create detailed, visually appealing reports and presentations that convey insights effectively.
5. Facilitation and Communication:
* Strong facilitation skills to support group discussions and brainstorming sessions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
* Empathy-driven communication to connect with participants and encourage open sharing.
6. Collaboration and Teamwork:
* Ability to work collaboratively with design, product, and development teams to integrate findings into projects.
* Adaptability to work in diverse team environments and respond to changing project needs.
7. Project Management:
* Basic project management skills to help organize and structure design thinking sessions.
* Ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and ensure deliverables are met.
8. Creative Problem Solving:
* Ability to think outside the box and guide teams toward innovative solutions.
* Flexibility to pivot and adapt processes based on new insights during the analysis phase.
9. Attention to Detail:
* Strong attention to detail to ensure that mapping and documentation are accurate and comprehensive.
10. Technical Proficiency:
* Familiarity with design software and collaborative platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) is a plus.
* Knowledge of user research and usability testing methods to inform design thinking.
Must Have Skills / Requirements
1) Information and Data Synthesis Experience
a. Making visual or other representations of data to communicate with stakeholders and clients.
2) Analytical Thinking
a. Strong ability to interpret data, find patterns, and generate insights from research findings.
3) Proficiency in Research Tools
a. Familiarity with research tools like survey platforms (e.g., SurveyMonkey), data analysis software (Excel), and prototyping tools (Figma) is required.
